I am running EV 8 on a virtual Windows 2003 Server. Nothing else has changed, no archives have been deleted - any ideas? We recently upgraded to EV11 from EV10.0.4 - we have three EV servers and on one I am seeing the following 2 errors in the Event Log every 15 minutes:Īn error was detected while accessing the Vault Database 'EnterpriseVaultDirectory' (Internal reference: (Exit) Status: ġ482 11:30:09.877  (StorageDelete)  EV~E Event ID: 6651 Storage Deletion Server has failed |Reason: | In Enterprise Vault 10 and later a newer Microsoft CABinet SDK is used, which eliminates this problem.ĭo you use 'Collections' in Enterprise Vault? Let me know in the comments below. This can cause problems when it comes to migrating data to a new target environment because here multiple threads are trying to potentially access data in the same CAB file. In this older SDK only one process/thread could access and extract data from a CAB file at any time. One of the problems I happened to see recently related to the version of the CAB SDK which is used in versions of Enterprise Vault prior to EV 10. There is a neat clean up process, which has been written about too. Using CAB files like this, particularly on 'old' data, can definitely help with things like backups. The CAB files use the regular Microsoft CAB format, the files added to them are already compressed and so are not compressed again. One option is to add the files to CAB files, a process in Enterprise Vault known as 'Collection'. These sort of things often cause problems for traditional backup software. Many people realise after using Enterprise Vault for some time that there are an awful lot of relatively small files on the Vault Store partition disks.

Anyone also know if we can upgrade to EV 11 if the server is only 2008 R2 without SP1? Once we finish the EV 11 upgrade, we plan on buying all new hardware for EV, CA and DA and moving to Server 2012 (R2?). I don't understand why this info isn't easier to find.Īlso, we were never able to get SP1 installed for Server 2008 R2 on our CA server - looks like it will require a rebuild to accomplish but we would like to move forward with the upgrade to EV 11. I've now blown my window of upgrade opportunity for a workday and will need to do this on my weekend. If anyone has the answer, I would appreciate it. I'll admit there is a slight change I am wrong about that but, I have spent the last hour looking, including searching these forums, for the answer but it's not easy to find. If you search for "binaries" in any of those guides, you won't find anything relevant to my question. Neither the EV 11 upgrade guide nor the CA/DA 11 upgrade guides mention bypassing these prerequisites for a CA or DA server.

Where is the override for installing the EV 11 binaries despite the missing prerequisites? I want to ignore the prerequisites and install anyway. Of course, we don't want or need those prerequisites addressed on the servers where CA and DA run, we just want to upgrade the existing EV binaries from 10.0.4 to 11, so we can then upgrade the EV server to 11. I understand I need to install the EV 11 binaries on the CA and DA servers but when I try, I get the warning that certain items are no ready for the EV install, such required components that relate to the new IMAP access for EV. I now want to start the procedure for upgrading EV to version 11. I started by following the recommended procedure of upgrading our CA and DA servers to CA 11 and DA 11. I'm trying to get my EV 10.0.4 environment upgraded to version 11.x Sorry to be a pain but I find this so frustrating.
